Frequently Asked Questions
-
In most cases, binding is completed within approximately two business days after a bind request is submitted. If a submission is time-sensitive, District Cover’s underwriting team will coordinate directly with Amwins SPoC to help keep things moving.
-
Once you request binding through the District Cover platform, Amwins SPoC will manage the process behind the scenes : including clearance, documentation, invoicing, and policy issuance. You don’t need to coordinate separately; the workflow is designed to stay simple and centralized for you.
-
Clearance is handled by Amwins as part of the binding process to ensure there are no duplicate submissions. Here’s what to expect:
When you submit or request to bind, Amwins reviews whether the account has already been submitted by another agent
If a conflict exists, an Agent of Record (AOR) may be required prior to binding
Clearance is completed by Amwins’ dedicated clearance team
You’ll receive confirmation once clearance is finalized
This process helps protect all parties and ensures a smooth path to binding.
-
If your agency needs to become appointed, you can start the process directly through Amwins.

-
In most cases, no. Once District Cover underwriting approves a submission, Amwins SPoC follows that decision. The primary exception would be a clearance issue that prevents binding.
-
Yes, timing matters:
Before referral or underwriting review: You can edit your submission freely
During underwriting review: Changes are temporarily locked
After approval but before binding: Edits may be allowed, though material exposure changes could trigger another review
After binding: Changes are handled via endorsement
If you’re unsure, the District Cover underwriting team is happy to guide you.
-
The platform provides estimated taxes and fees. Final calculations, including taxes and fees, are completed by Amwins SPoC and reflected on the official cover page. The Amwins calculation is the final and accurate amount.
